Posts with Extra Conditions

  • Junior Statistical Officer: mathematics at Class 12 with a minimum score, or statistics as a subject in the degree, as the notice sets out.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade II: statistics as a subject in the degree.
  • Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer: a professional qualification such as CA, CMA or an MBA in finance is listed as desirable, not essential.
  • Inspector posts in CBIC and the Central Bureau of Narcotics, and Sub-Inspector posts in the CBI and NIA, have physical standards and physical tests.
  • Upper age limits differ by post, commonly 27, 30 or 32 years for the general category.

How Posts Are Allotted

Every candidate who qualifies is ranked on the final merit list. Posts are then allotted in order of merit against the preferences you give, so a high rank gets you your first choice and a lower rank the next available one.

Think about the work and the posting before ranking posts. Secretariat and audit posts are mostly desk work in offices, while tax, narcotics and investigation posts involve field duty, raids and transfers across a zone.
