About SSC
SSC runs most of its recruitment through a set of recurring exams, each aimed at a qualification level. It has regional offices that handle exam centres and some stages of selection, while applications are made on its central website after a one-time registration.
What SSC Recruits For
- Combined Graduate Level (CGL): assistants, inspectors, auditors and similar posts
- Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL): clerks, postal assistants and data entry operators
- Multi-Tasking Staff and Havaldar
- GD Constable for the central armed police forces, SSF and Assam Rifles
- Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and CAPFs, and Delhi Police Constable
- Junior Engineer, Stenographer Grade C and D, and Hindi translator posts
- Selection Posts for specific posts in various departments

When SSC Announces Recruitment
SSC publishes a tentative calendar listing the notice and exam months of each exam for the year. CGL, CHSL, MTS and GD Constable run every year, though dates often move from the calendar.
What SSC Applicants Often Miss
- Exams held in several shifts are normalised, so the raw score you work out from the answer key can differ from the final marks.
- Under the current CGL pattern Tier 1 only screens candidates for Tier 2, and the final merit comes from Tier 2.
- GD Constable and SI height and chest standards are relaxed for hill-area candidates and Scheduled Tribes. Read the relaxation table before deciding you are not eligible.
- Your name and date of birth in the one-time registration should match your Class 10 certificate exactly, because the two are compared at document verification.
Preparing for SSC Recruitment
Staff selection exams are mostly objective and fast. Speed and accuracy in arithmetic, reasoning and language matter as much as general knowledge, so take timed mock tests regularly and review every wrong answer.
Note which stages are qualifying and which count for merit, and keep typing or skill test practice going alongside written preparation if your post needs it.
Eligibility for SSC Jobs
Each SSC notification sets the qualification and age limits for its posts. Central government recruitment explains the standard age relaxations and the mistakes that get applications rejected.
Pay and Benefits at SSC
Posts filled through SSC are paid on the pay matrix of the government concerned, mostly at the entry and middle levels for Group C posts. Each notice lists the pay level or scale of every post.
On top of basic pay come dearness allowance, house rent allowance by city, and other allowances. New appointees serve a probation period before confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which SSC exam is for 12th pass candidates?
CHSL, which fills clerk and data entry posts. MTS, Havaldar and GD Constable need only Class 10.
Does SSC hold an interview for CGL?
No. CGL selection is on the written tiers, with skill tests for posts that need them, followed by document verification.
Do I need to register separately for each SSC exam?
No. You create a one-time registration on the SSC website and then apply for each exam from your account, filling the exam-specific details each time.
What is the age limit for SSC jobs?
It differs by post. Each SSC notification states the minimum and maximum age, the date on which age is counted and the relaxations for reserved categories.
Can final-year students apply for SSC recruitment?
Only where the notification allows it. Some recruitments accept candidates who will complete their qualification by a stated date; others need the qualification on the closing date.
Is there an application fee for SSC jobs?
Most recruitments charge a fee, with exemptions or reductions commonly given to women, SC, ST, persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen. The fee and exemptions are listed in each notice.
Where are SSC recruitment notices published?
SSC publishes its notices on its official website, ssc.gov.in. Recruitment we have checked is listed on this page with links to the official notice.
Is this the official SSC website?
No. ItsSarkariNaukri.com is an independent website and is not connected with Staff Selection Commission. We list its recruitment after checking the official notification, and always link to the official source for applying.
How can I know when SSC announces new jobs?
New recruitment from SSC appears on this page once it has been checked. There are 2 recruitments open right now. Checking the official website regularly is the surest way not to miss a notice.
