B.Ed Government Jobs: Posts, Recruiters and Eligibility

Government Jobs After B.Ed

A recruitment is listed here when B.Ed appears in its eligibility. Always check the post-wise qualification in the notification, since a recruitment can ask for different degrees for different posts.

Posts You Can Apply for with B.Ed

  • Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT)
  • Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) with a master's degree
  • Primary teacher in some states
  • Special educator and librarian posts in some recruitment

Who Recruits

B.Ed holders are recruited mainly by KVS, NVS, DSSSB and state education departments and teacher boards. See Graduate Jobs for the wider picture at this level, including pay levels and age limits.

What Counts as B.Ed

A B.Ed from an institution recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), along with a graduate or postgraduate degree in the subject you will teach.

Preparing for B.Ed Recruitment

Clear the teacher eligibility test for the level you want (CTET or the state TET), and prepare your teaching subject and pedagogy for the recruitment exam.

Career Growth

Teachers move from TGT to PGT with a master's degree, and further to head teacher and principal posts.

What B.Ed Candidates Often Miss

  • A B.Ed from an institution not recognised by NCTE is not accepted.
  • PRT posts in some states need a D.El.Ed rather than a B.Ed; check the level.
  • Your degree subjects must match the subject of the post.

Age Limit and Applying for B.Ed Jobs

There is no single age limit for B.Ed posts: each notification sets the minimum and maximum age for its own posts, the date on which age is counted and the documents to upload. Central government recruitment covers the standard age relaxations, the documents most recruiters ask for and how the online application works; state recruiters set their own relaxations.

Frequently Asked Questions

For TGT posts in KVS and NVS, yes, CTET Paper II. State posts need the state TET or CTET as the notice says.

Rules have changed over time and differ by state. Check the current notice; many PRT posts now ask for a D.El.Ed.
