When SSB Announces Recruitment
Sashastra Seema Bal advertises technical and tradesman posts in batches every year or two, often several posts in one notice.
What SSB Applicants Often Miss
- SSB guards the open borders with Nepal and Bhutan, so postings are mostly in border districts of north and northeast India.
- One SSB notice often lists many posts with different qualifications and physical standards. Check the row for your post, not the general table.
- Paramedical posts need registration with the relevant council, such as the pharmacy or nursing council.
Preparing for SSB Recruitment
Police recruitment has a written exam and demanding physical tests. Start running practice months before the physical test and build up gradually to avoid injury. For the written exam, focus on general knowledge, reasoning, arithmetic and the language paper.
Eligibility for SSB Jobs
Each SSB notification sets the qualification and age limits for its posts. Central government recruitment explains the standard age relaxations and the mistakes that get applications rejected.
Pay and Benefits at SSB
Police pay follows the central pay matrix for central forces and state pay rules for state police. Allowances for risk, rations and difficult postings add to basic pay, and housing is provided where available.
