How Teacher Recruitment Works
School teachers in central schools are recruited by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. State schools recruit through the education department, a teacher recruitment board or the public service commission, depending on the state.
Primary and upper primary posts usually need a pass in CTET or the state TET along with D.El.Ed. or B.Ed. Post Graduate Teacher posts need a master's degree and B.Ed. College posts follow UGC rules on NET, SET and PhD.

Preparing for Teacher Recruitment
Teacher recruitment exams usually test child development and pedagogy, your subject, general awareness and a language. Pedagogy questions are about applying ideas to classroom situations, so practise with scenario questions rather than memorising definitions.
Clearing CTET or your state TET early keeps you eligible for several recruitment rounds, since the certificate is now valid for life.
Career Growth in Teaching Jobs
School teachers move from PRT or TGT to higher grades through promotion and higher qualifications, and on to head teacher, vice principal and principal posts. College teachers follow the UGC Career Advancement Scheme from assistant professor to professor.
