Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) is hiring 45 Food Safety Officers (Group-B) for the Food & Drugs Administration Department, Haryana. Applicants need a degree in food technology, agricultural science, veterinary science, bio-chemistry, microbiology, chemistry or medicine. Knowledge of Hindi or Sanskrit at school or college level is also required. The online application closes on 19 October 2026 at 5:00 PM.
Who Should Apply for HPSC Food Safety Officer 2026
This suits graduates or postgraduates in food technology, agriculture, dairy or biotechnology, veterinary science, chemistry, microbiology or medicine who have completed the required training. Candidates from other states may assume they can apply for reserved seats, but reservation requires Haryana residence.

HPSC Food Safety Officer 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from a recognized university or institution in specified disciplines (Food Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Sciences or Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology or Chemistry or medicine, or listed medical degrees), and successful completion of training as specified by the Food Authority.
- Hindi or Sanskrit as one of the subjects in Matric or Hindi as one of the subjects in Higher Education.

HPSC Food Safety Officer 2026 Selection Process
- Generally a three-stage process: Screening Test, Subject Knowledge Test and interview.
- The Commission may shortlist candidates based on marks, higher qualifications, experience or other modes if applications are large.
- The Commission may decide to hold a Subject Knowledge Test and interview without a Screening Test.

What Happens After Selection
Candidates who make the final merit list after the stages listed above (3 in all) have their original documents checked and go through a medical examination.
The appointing department then verifies character and antecedents, usually through the police, and issues an offer of appointment with the joining date and place of posting.
New appointees usually serve a probation period, often one to two years, during which there may be induction training, before being confirmed in service.
