National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) is hiring 321 Scale I Administrative Officers across India, in Generalist and Specialist posts. Generalist posts need any graduate or postgraduate degree, while Specialist posts need a degree in a specific subject such as law, IT, automobile or agriculture. Watch Out Before You Apply
- Scan your photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration to the required sizes before you start the form, because the form will not save without them.
- Write the handwritten declaration yourself in English, in small letters, with black ink; a declaration in capitals or written by someone else makes your application invalid.
- Apply for only one discipline, because multiple applications cancel all of them and your fees are forfeited.

NICL AO 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (ICAI) / Cost and Management Accountant plus graduation/postgraduation (Finance)
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Law (Legal)
- B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in CS/IT or MCA (Information Technology)
- B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Automobile Engineering, or any engineering plus automobile diploma (Automobile Engineers)
- Engineering graduation/postgraduation excluding IT and automobile (Risk Engineers)
- ACS/FCS from ICSI plus graduation/postgraduation (Company Secretaries)
- Graduate (4 years)/Postgraduate in Agriculture, Agricultural Biotechnology or Agricultural Engineering (Agriculture)
- Graduate/Postgraduate in any stream (Generalist). All require at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD).

What Happens After Selection
Candidates who make the final merit list after the stages listed above (4 in all) have their original documents checked and go through a medical examination.
The appointing department then verifies character and antecedents, usually through the police, and issues an offer of appointment with the joining date and place of posting.
New appointees usually serve a probation period, often one to two years, during which there may be induction training, before being confirmed in service.

Can final-year students apply?
The notice says the qualifying certificate must be held as on 01.10.2026, so students who finish their degree after that date are not eligible.
Is there negative marking?
Yes. For each wrong answer in the objective tests, one-fourth of that question's marks are deducted. Unanswered questions carry no penalty.
Do candidates from other states pay a different fee?
No. The fee depends only on whether you are SC, ST or PwBD, or any other candidate.
Do I need a scribe for the online exam?
Only if you qualify under the scribe guidelines; you must arrange and pay for your own scribe and state this in the application.
