Punjab Govt Jobs 2026
Reviewed · How we check information
Punjabi is the deciding factor for Punjab government jobs: candidates need Punjabi at matric level, and PSSSB recruitments carry a qualifying Punjabi paper that must be cleared before the main paper counts. Group C hiring runs through PSSSB, and officer posts through PPSC.

Rules Specific to Punjab Notifications
Language: Punjabi passed at matric (Class 10) level is required for most posts, and PSSSB runs a qualifying Punjabi language paper. Candidates who fail the Punjabi paper are not evaluated further.
Residence and reservation: Reserved categories and other state benefits are for Punjab residents, with certificates in the Punjab government's format.
Preparing for Punjab Exams
Papers test Punjab history (including the Sikh Gurus and the Punjabi Suba movement), geography, culture and current affairs.
General papers overlap with SSC and railway exams.
Things Candidates Often Miss in Punjab
- Candidates from other states often miss the Punjabi requirement. Without matric-level Punjabi most Punjab posts are closed to you.
- The qualifying Punjabi paper is pass-or-fail. A strong score in the main paper does not count if you fail it.
