ONGC is hiring 3,047 apprentices across 24 work centres in India, under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Posts include trades such as Fitter and Electrician, plus graduate and diploma executive roles. Most applicants with ITI, diploma, B.Com, B.Sc, B.B.A or a graduate degree may be eligible, subject to age and domicile rules. Applications close on 20 November 2026. Check the district list in Annexure 1 before you choose a work centre.

Who Should Apply for ONGC Apprentice 2026

Candidates with an ITI certificate in the listed trade, a three-year diploma in engineering, a B.Com, B.Sc (Chemistry), B.B.A or any graduate degree may fit; people who have already completed an apprenticeship or have over a year of job experience after qualifying should not assume they are eligible.

ONGC Apprentice 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Library Assistant: Passed 10th class examination
  • ITI in relevant trades (COPA, Electrician, Fitter, Welder etc.)
  • Fire Safety Technician: 12th Class or I.T.I (two years after class 10th)
  • Executive Finance / Accounts Executive: B.Com
  • Lab Chemist/Analyst: B.Sc. (Chemistry)
  • Executive HR: B.B.A degree
  • Secretarial Office Assistant: Any Graduate
  • Diploma executive posts: Three years Diploma in relevant engineering discipline
  • Graduate executive posts (NATS): Degree in relevant engineering discipline, Commerce, or Graduate with Geology for Petroleum Executive

Age Relaxation

ONGC Apprentice 2026 Salary and Pay Scale

Stipend is ₹8,200 a month for 10th/12th trade apprentices as the lowest basic rate, rising to ₹12,300 for graduate apprentices, as per the notice's scale.

As printed in the notification: Graduate Apprentice: ₹12,300/- per month; Three years Diploma: ₹10,900/- per month; Trade Apprentices 10th/12th: ₹8,200/- per month; ITI one year: ₹9,600/- per month; ITI two year: ₹10,560/- per month

What Happens After Selection

Selected candidates sign a contract of apprenticeship and join for the training period stated in the notice, with a monthly stipend.

At the end, apprentices who complete the training receive a certificate. An apprenticeship does not by itself lead to a permanent post, though some employers give weightage to their own trained apprentices in later recruitment.
